Once a top secret vessel proposed and developed by Winston Churchill, Tank Landing Craft were used to evacuate British and ANZAC soldiers from Greece to Crete in 1941, saving thousands of lives.
Largely forgotten about until the recent discovery of two shipwrecked Tank Landing Craft in Crete, Australian archeologist Michael Bendon reveals the story of the flotilla that made a crucial contribution to the Allied Mediterranean campaigns in 1941.
Presented in conjunction with the ANZACs in Greece exhibition, on display at East Maitland Library from 16 – 20 April.
