Gloucester and Scone Picnic Trains
Overview
Join The Picnic Train as they make history as newly relaunched R766 and 5917 double-head as they haul The Barrington Picnic Train as it follows the beautiful North Coast line from Maitland to Gloucester and return. Your journey starts at Maitland’s Railway Station, travelling on the North Coast line, paralleling The Bucketts range into Gloucester, where a shuttle bus will be waiting to take passengers into town.
For the first time in history, you will be able to travel behind ex-Victorian Railways R Class locomotive, R766 double-heading with ex-NSW Railways 59 Class locomotive, 5917.
There will be ample time for you to enjoy Gloucester for lunch and explore the village before returning to Maitland in the early evening.
On Sunday, the same locomotives will make another trip from Maitland to Scone along the busy Main Northern railway line. You will have plenty of time to explore Scone before returning to Maitland in the afternoon.
Choose from the private compartments for large groups, classic seating for four, two or singles.
Seats will sell out fast, so be sure to book yours today.
