Movie Night – Eureka Stockade
Overview
Maitland Regional Museum is hosting a movie night featuring Eureka Stockade (1949) at Studio Amsterdam as part of The Lost Cinemas of Maitland and Beyond exhibition.
As part of the emerging Australian Western Genre, this cinematography immerses you in a raw and chaotic environment of the gold rush. You will see an extreme contrast between the wealth being dug out of the earth and the poverty and injustice faced by miners. The rebellion is shown as a melting pot of nationalities like German, Spanish, Irish and Scottish, who all unite with a common cause for freedom and fairness.
Cinema food and drinks available for purchase.
Bookings essential.
This project is supported by Maitland City Council Community Grants and Create NSW’s Volunteer Museum Grant Program.
