Morpeth Courthouse, now the Morpeth Museum, bestowed justice from 1862 until c1950.
Morpeth Museum served a broad range of purposes such as, a Post and Telegraph Office, where Morpeth had the worlds first pictorial stamp. The significant building was also a branch library with lots of books to view from that period and a baby health centre; take a look at the baby, toddler and young children’s scales from that era. Other services were a polling station and private accommodation; an interesting detail, is the graffiti for the children’s growing height, that is marked on the door frame.
