The National Trust’s Grossmann & Brough Houses open day
Overview
Grossmann House Museum is open for tours from 10:30am to 3pm on Sunday 9 July. This is the final opportunity to see and hear the story of the hand-sewn 18th Century replica dresses, one of which uses silk brocade made in the 1740’s – a joint project between the National Trust NSW and costume design students of the National Institute of Dramatic Art Sydney. The display will be dismantled in August and the dresses put into storage in Sydney. Entry $12 Adults, $10 Concession, children under 5 and NT members free. Book on Eventbrite but ‘walk-in’ entry also welcome.
In neighbouring Brough House, see the exhibition of outstanding textile work using age-old skills and tools by our Artist in Residence, Vicki Cornish then go upstairs to see the specialist looms and weaving in process in the Fibre Makers Space. Free entry but donations welcomed.
Home made refreshments and Mrs Beckett’s preserves for sale in the lovely gardens.
