Book the kids in for Workhouse Woes – Detainee Drill where they’ll discover the different types of work prisoners undertook as part of their sentence. Detainee Drill also explores the exercise routine which prisoners undertook during the early 20th century.
As part of this activity, kids will enjoy a one hour guided mini-tour of the gaol and learn about how the prisoners lived before having some fun learning the exercise moves. The activity finishes with putting the moves together to create the exact routine prisoners performed daily at Maitland Gaol.
