Young Archie | Local Student Artists 5-18 Years

Overview

The 2021 Archibald Prize exhibition will be on display at Maitland Regional Art Gallery from 23 January – 6 March 2022.

To coincide with this extraordinarily popular show, there will be a Young Archie exhibition at the gallery from 26 February – 3 April 2022, made up of portraits by school students from 5-18 years submitted from local schools.

The Young Archie provides a showcase for portraits created by our young regional student artists. We invite your school to participate!

Students are invited to make their own individual portraits of someone who is special to them and to make these portraits from life, by doing a ‘sitting’ with the person, making sketches, and/or taking photographs and working from them as artists do in the Archibald Prize artworks.

There will be a prize awarded in each age category sponsored by ANZ Bank, presenting partner of the Archibald Prize.

Schools are invited to register for the Young Archie; each participating school will be represented in the exhibition.
