Female Convict Bonnet Display

As part of The National Trust Heritage Festival, an exhibition of Maitland & Beyond Family History’s Female Convict Bonnets Collection will be on display at Brough House on 13 & 14 April and 27 & 28 April.

The bonnets have been lovingly made and decorated by Society members, friends and community groups and represent some of the female convicts who were connected to Maitland either through assignment, Ticket of Leave, marriage, residing or final resting place, and relates some of their amazing stories.

A special feature of the display will be a short history of the incredible life of Molly Morgan, the “Queen of the Hunter Valley”.
