LWT Local History – Building Bridges

More than practical structures of concrete and steel, bridges can be inspiring and beautiful, emblems of our cultural heritage.

When the first Belmore Bridge was opened more than 150 years ago, it was an important development in Maitland’s history. Bridges are a symbol of connection – linking communities and overcoming boundaries.

With a river running through the centre of Maitland, bridges are a feature of local life. This event will explore how bridges have been an integral part of Maitland’s social and commercial history.
