Maitland Taste Deconstructed

Maitland Taste is one of the Hunter regions favourite food festivals, showcasing the best food, drink and seasonal produce in Maitland and surrounds. In 2021, patrons will experience an exciting, new festival format, which has been carefully curated over three tantalising days.

From Friday 7 to Sunday 9 May, Maitland Taste Deconstructed will bring Maitland to life with a program of events that extend into the night and feature live entertainment, vibrant lighting installations and pop up eateries.

Explore COVID Safe pop up eateries on Friday and Saturday, each with a distinct flavour and atmosphere.

BBQ lovers, be sure to check out ‘The Meating Place’ on the grounds of St Johns Parish Lawn. It’s here that Smokin Hot n Saucy will team up with Foghorn Brewery and BBQ the traditional way – low and slow. Excite your taste buds, get cosy around the fire pits and enjoy live music from talented local musicians.

Take in bright lights, colours and sounds of live music at ‘Mezze Beats’, a street party and Mediterranean fiesta at Turner Rest Park. Grab yourself a seat and enjoy smooth, disco beats from International DJ, Perry Carter who’ll have you grooving to a playlist inspired by Motown, RnB, Soul and Funk.

Gin lovers unite at ‘The Laneway Bar’, where The Farmer’s Wife Gin Distillery will be serving delicious gin and Taco Locato will get the party started with a Mexican fiesta. Unwind with good company, great eats and beats at The Laneway Bar in Coffin Lane.

COOKING Demonstrations

If you’re looking for inspiration for your own kitchen, Saturday’s cooking demonstrations present the perfect opportunity to learn about different flavours in food and what it means to cook from ‘Paddock to Plate’. Enjoy a range of demonstrations by local home chefs and special guests from Muse Kitchen Lorn, Phoenix Park Farm and Coquun on interesting cooking styles and techniques that’ll help you to become your very own MasterChef at home.

Garden Demonstrations

Spend some quality time with Mum and the family at the garden demonstrations on Sunday. Learn how to design a productive garden, grow your own produce and live a permaculture lifestyle. Hosted by Purple Pear Farm, the Garden Stage will feature talks by local permaculture enthusiasts who will share their tips on living a sustainable life. In addition to the demonstrations, there will also be a variety of stalls selling flowers, plants and gifts. Why not pick up something special for Mum on Mothers Day?

CHILDREN’S Entertainment

Maitland Taste Kids Patch is a dedicated children’s space featuring a play kitchen and a range of activities suitable for children of all ages. This year, kids will have the opportunity to decorate a reusable calico bag with their own creative paintings or take part in a seedling workshop with Farmer Jesse.
