Arts and Culture

Expand your horizons and be inspired by contemporary and classic arts and culture in Maitland.

Central Maitland

There really is no substitute for good taste, and you are sure to get that at The Cunning Culinarian. The ambient space invites you to enjoy an exquisite lunch, made fresh, with passion and love. After lunch head over to the Maitland Regional Art Gallery and peruse the compelling and inspiring exhibitions. Each year the gallery showcases thousands of artworks and creates hundreds of learning activities across 25 exhibitions. Follow the Maitland Art Trail through to The Levee, where you should grab an afternoon coffee, do some shopping and have a wander along the Riverwalk.

Take a break and unwind by checking into your accommodation. Fratelli Roma is an easy walk from the Quest Apartments. Along the way, you’ll pass an array of bars, such as The Pourhouse and The Rigby to enjoy pre dinner or post dinner drinks. At Fratelli Roma, you’ll have a hard task choosing from either the fresh, daily homemade pasta or gnocchi, amongst other robust flavoured, authentic Italian dishes for a fine dining experience.

MORPETH

Make your way to Morpeth for a leisurely morning. Enjoy breakfast at either Common Grounds or Taylor’s Bond Store & Coffee House. Both offer great meals, as well as a select number of tables with views of the Hunter River.

After breakfast, spend your morning wandering the cobblestoned laneways and weave in and out of the shops. Art lovers are encouraged to make a stop at Morpeth Gallery who specialise in investment art and regularly host exhibitions from travelling artists.

Immerse yourself in the history of the riverside town and complete the Morpeth Heritage Walk. Learn about the once thriving river port and the characters and events which shaped the town we see today. The Morpeth Museum is also a must visit, with interesting collections and exhibitions on the town’s history on display.who
