National Youth Week – Coming Together to Connect, Share, Speak Out & Celebrate
Spread the word! National Youth Week will be celebrated this year during 10 – 18 April with the theme: Coming Together to Connect, Share, Speak Out & Celebrate.
National Youth Week is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our young people. It provides the chance for young people to express themselves, their ideas and views and create and enjoy activities and events.
Maitland City Council is happy to be able to support these events across the city through the Maitland Youth Week Grant Program, which offers small grants of up to $1,000 for individual organisations and up to $3,000 for larger events organised by multiple organisations working collaboratively.
This year, Maitland has a full line up of events planned including;
Organiser: Early Links Inclusion Support Service
Date: Thursday 11 & Tuesday 16 April

Early Links Inclusion Support Service will host two dance workshops held over two evenings, that have a specific focus on providing an accessible and inclusive community-based dance activity. This is a great opportunity for young people to come along and learn some new dance mooves, meet new people and just have fun!

Night Shred will host a skate and scooter competition at dusk, with two age division categories. The event will also feature a skate demo, which will showcase the talent and skill of a local skateboarder with low vision, and encourage all young people to follow their passion and interests in the sport.

The GABFEST symposium is back again to provide a platform for young people to have a voice through various forms of visual and performing arts. The event will also feature live music, food and discussion on what is important to local young people.
Sun Street Festival

The Sun Street Festival is back again with a huge line up appearing on two stages, to present live local music and performances! Other activities and entertainment include; a photo booth, face painting, food, the Remus Youth Theatre, the Wakakulang Aboriginal Dance Group and Body Beyond Boot Camp.
Young, Loud & Proud

Time: 10.00am – 2.00pm
Venue: The Riverlink space, The Levee, Maitland
The Riverlink space in The Levee will provide the perfect public platform for young artists and creatives to showcase their many talents through music and performing arts at this all ability, inclusive celebration. The event will also feature a pop-up community information kiosk on local services available in Maitland.
