The Maitland & Morpeth String Quartet at Maitland Town Hall

Overview

The Maitland & Morpeth String Quartet by Nicholas Enright is a tale of music and romance which takes root in the sleepy town of Maitland and the neighbouring village of Morpeth.

Maitland Regional Art Gallery has commissioned composer David Banney to create new music for a string quartet accompanied by narration delivered expertly by retired ABC broadcaster Paul Bevan, at the Maitland Town Hall, a local landmark which also appears as a character in the story.

Whether you are a fan of music or local history, this Maitland and Morpeth story is sure to leave a lasting impression, bringing the magic of this unique corner of Australia to life in an entirely new way.

Doors open 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start at Maitland Town Hall, which is diagonally opposite The Maitland Regional Art Gallery.

The performance accompanies the exhibition, The Maitland & Morpeth String Quartet which is on exhibition at the Maitland Regional Art Gallery.
