Scuffy the Tugboat Storytime and Craft

Scuffy the Tugboat Storytime and Craft

Overview

As Maitland Libraries celebrates an incredible 80 years, we’re taking a trip back in time to discover the stories children were enjoying in 1946.

Scuffy the Tugboat is one of the most beloved children’s stories ever. Meant for “bigger things,” Scuffy the Tugboat leaves the man with the polka-dot tie and his little boy and sets off to explore the world. But on his daring adventure down the river, Scuffy realizes that home is where he’d rather be, sailing in his bathtub.

After the story, we’ll craft a beautiful scene from Scuffy’s nighttime adventures. The full silver moon, lights on the river, the splash of fish, and hooting owls. Bring the magic of Scuffy’s journey to life.
