Celebrate Youth Week 2026 by getting creative and supporting healthy ecosystems for our solitary bees.
As part of the celebrations, Council encourage youth to participate in the Nature and Nurture workshop. Experience hands-on creative arts and nature craft, where you will be guided to build a solitary bee hotel using recycled materials such as cardboard tubes, sticks, paper straws, newspaper, and other natural items.
Solitary bees play a vital role in pollination and maintaining biodiversity, supporting healthy ecosystems and food production. Protecting these quiet yet essential pollinators is critical for maintaining balance in our environment and ensuring future sustainability. Participants will also have the opportunity to make a take home seed bomb.
By combining art with environmental education, Nature and Nurture aim to empower young people to become custodians of nature while expressing themselves creatively.
Note, a parent or guardian must remain onsite throughout the event. Parents do not need to purchase a ticket to assist their participating child in the activities.
Youth Week spans across NSW from 16-26 April 2026. The Bee Hotel and Seed Workshop is suitable for 8-15 years of age.
