Flying Fox Spring Tree Planting
Overview
Our local flying foxes need a helping hand—and you can be part of the team!
Join Maitland Libraries and the Environment and Sustainability team for a special morning dedicated to these fascinating and endangered creatures.
Recent flooding behind Beryl Humble Oval has set back some of the important work being done to support our flying foxes, so we’re coming together to plant again. Roll up your sleeves and help us create a stronger, healthier habitat by planting trees that these animals love to call home.
Along the way, you’ll discover more about the impacts of flooding on our local environment and the animals that depend on it.
We’ll kick things off with morning tea at 9am, before diving into a morning of fun activities.
Take a guided bushwalk to explore the flying foxes’ habitat, learn which trees they like to roost in, and enjoy nature up close.
Families can enjoy flying fox–themed stories and craft, making this a great day out for kids as well as adults.
A wonderful opportunity to give back to nature, learn something new, and have fun together in our community!
