Grassroots : Annie Wyatt and the Creation of the National Trust

Overview

Come along to Brough House to experience the new exhibition, Grassroots : Annie Wyatt and the Creation of the National Trust.

The exhibition showcases storyboards of Annie Wyatt’s significant role in starting The National Trust as we know it today.

Annie Wyatt (1885 – 1961 ), was a conservationist, tree lover, humanitarian, feminist, author and the founder of the National Trust of Australia.

Wyatt’s dream for a National Trust was acclaimed and on April 6 1945 the National Trust of Australia (NSW) was formed. Following on from the National Trust in NSW, the Trust movement spread across Australia and branches were set up in each state and territory.

Friends of Grossmann and Brough Houses, appreciate the opportunity to tell the story of Annie Wyatt and the Creation of the National Trust in this celebratory 80th year of the Trust.

All proceeds go towards the maintenance of these beautiful Victorian properties and gardens.
