Council’s environment team are running a FREE Keeping Backyard Chickens for Beginners Workshop at​ Gillieston Heights Community Hub, Cnr Redwood Drive and Pine Street, Gillieston Heights on Sunday June 19 2022 11.00am to 1.00pm

The event is designed specifically for those residents just starting out or for those thinking of keeping backyard chickens in the near future.

Come along and learn about the benefits of backyard chickens, what you need to consider before getting backyard chickens, Councils rules and requirements, the different types of henhouses, watering and feeding options, the different breeds of chickens and how to look after your flock.

There will be plenty of question time to discuss your ideas with the presenter.
