Life and Rhymes of Banjo Paterson

Life and Rhymes of Banjo Paterson

Overview

Step back to Maitland in 1900, when Andrew “Banjo” Paterson delivered a stirring lecture across the road at the Town Hall during his celebrated tour.

On the 125th anniversary of that visit, acclaimed bush poet Gregory North retraces Banjo’s footsteps.

Hear Paterson’s much-loved poems alongside vivid stories of his extraordinary life, including his time as a war correspondent during the Boer War.

Gregory’s unique performance style brings Banjo’s wit, warmth, and Australiana to life.

Presented in conjunction with Maitland & District Historical Society (in support of their community heritage work).

Refreshments – this will be a licensed event with beer, wine, soft drinks & other refreshments inspired by the bush and the times.
