Maitland and Morpeth String Quartet Exhibition
Overview
Maitland and its sleepy neighbour, Morpeth, are never quite the same again, all due to a middle-aged couple and their hobby of violin playing. This animated film is a delight to both eye and ear.
Victoria Roberts’ quirky cartoons are perfect complements for Nick Enright’s cleverly constructed poem, while Ruth Cracknell’s reading of all parts adds wit and charm. Both Enright and Cracknell hail from Maitland, making this a very special Maitland and Morpeth story.
This exhibition runs from 30 August – 14 September.
Don’t miss composer David Banney who has been commissioned to create music for a string quartet accompanied by narration delivered expertly by retired ABC broadcaster Paul Bevan, at the Maitland Town Hall – a local landmark which also appears as a character in the story on 5 September – purchase tickets here for this special event.
