‘With a Needle and Thread’ seminar brings researchers, textile enthusiasts and descendants together to unravel the complex lives of Maitland female convicts. The Dressmakers of Maitland focus to the many female convicts assigned to the Hunter Valley, their skill with a needle was their ticket to a better life.
