Looking to get more out of your gallery visits? Join artist Luke Thurgate for a sketching tour of Maitland Regional Art Gallery’s current exhibitions.
Tailored to art educators, this workshop will introduce a range of drawing exercises designed to deepen engagement with works of art.

Luke Thurgate is an artist and educator based in Sydney. He studied at the University of Newcastle, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2007. He is currently completing a Master of Fine Art at the National Art School where he also teaches drawing and painting. Before moving to Sydney, Luke was a lecturer and public programs manager at Adelaide Central School of Art. He has held exhibition and education programming roles at the Art Gallery of South Australia and Newcastle Art Gallery. Luke has delivered workshops and professional development seminars on behalf of the New South Wales Department of Education, the South Australian Department of Education, as well as various charity organisations, arts festivals, regional galleries and corporate clients.
