The Hobbit Walking Book Club

The Hobbit Walking Book Club

Overview

Bilbo Baggins once remarked that stepping out your door can be a dangerous business—you never know where you might be swept off to.

This school holidays, embark on a journey of your own with The Hobbit and join us for a special walking book club. We’ll lace up our boots, grab our walking sticks, and wander the scenic paths of Maitland as we chat about Tolkien’s beloved tale.

A walking book club is just like any other—except we take the discussion outdoors. There’s something about strolling side by side that makes the conversation flow, all while soaking up fresh air and stretching our legs.

Over the school holidays, enjoy reading The Hobbit with your family, then meet us at Maitland library for a leisurely literary stroll. We’ll wrap up our journey with a riverside morning tea—perfect for hobbits in need of second breakfast.

Please bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle.

Maitland libraries has a variety of copies of The Hobbit for loan, so you can get reading as soon as you like.

Free family event. Bookings essential.
