All About Feathers

All About Feathers

Overview

Feathers are marvels of engineering! They help birds fly, stay warm, keep dry, camouflage and show off to other birds. Join our friends from the Hunter Bird Observer’s Club for a special event exploring all there is to know about these amazing structures.

Enjoy a bird walk in the beautiful surrounds of East Maitland library where we’ll keep our eyes peeled for feathers from our bird friends. Back at the library, we’ll put these feathers under the microscope to find out how they are constructed and how they work. Finish off with a feathery craft activity as we create our own bird in flight.

Please bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle and morning tea.
