Sydney Youth Orchestras hosted by Hunter Valley Grammar presents an afternoon of fine music

Overview

Hunter Valley Grammar School and Sydney Youth Orchestras invite you to an afternoon of remarkable orchestral music, performed by some of Australia’s most talented young musicians.

Joining forces for this special event are two of SYO’s ensembles the Richard Gill Chamber Orchestra (RGCO) and the Peter Seymour Orchestra (PSO) in a program spanning centuries of orchestral brilliance, from the lush romanticism of Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov to works by Britten, Wyatt, and more.

The centrepiece of the afternoon is a performance that will stop you in your tracks. Imogen Duns, cellist, HVGS student and SYO musician, takes centre stage to perform the first movement of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor – one of the most beloved and demanding works in the cello repertoire. It’s a breathtaking showcase of everything youth music in this country.
