Flood Stories 1955

Overview

In February 2025, to commemorate 70 years since the disastrous 1955 Maitland floods. Maitland Repertory Theatre will present three performances of Flood Stories 1955, a new one-act Australian Radio Play, and The Maitland and Morpeth String Quartet, a whimsical tale.

Flood Stories is a collection of stories from the 1955 Maitland flood. Some are sad, some contributions from Gregory Ray and are interesting, some are amazing and some are unbelievable. Flood Stories includes selections from The Flood Show, 1988 by W Frank Oakes with Chas Keys, adapted and directed by Anne Robinson.

The Maitland and Morpeth String Quartet is a whimsical tale of music and romance set around the time of the 1955 flood, written by Maitland playwright Nick Enright, and directed by Nadia Piave.
