Leaf Art with Jade Goodwin
Overview
Together we’ll take a nature walk around East Maitland Library, soaking in the sights and sounds of our beautiful local environment. As we wander beneath the trees and listen for birdsong, we’ll collect a variety of interesting leaves that will become the inspiration for our artwork.
Back in the library, Jade will guide us in transforming these treasures into beautiful leaf rubbings. Using a range of materials, we’ll uncover the hidden patterns, textures and delicate veins that make every leaf unique. As the shapes emerge on the page, imaginations can run wild. What creatures can you spot in the leaves? What stories might they tell?
This thoughtful and engaging workshop encourages children to slow down, observe and connect with the world around them. Through art, creativity and careful observation, Jade will explore how caring for Country begins with noticing the many ways Country reveals itself beneath our feet, above our heads and all around us every day.
Suitable for ages 3 – 12.
