Robert Klippel

Teen Sculpture Workshop: The Art of Assemblage

Overview

Robert Klippel (1920–2001) was a tireless inventor whose work consisted of random and unusual objects put together in a cohesive and compelling way.

‘Everything I see, no matter what it is, I weigh up its sculptural possibilities.’ Robert Klippel, 1948.

In this workshop participants will discover Klippel’s extraordinary practice. They will be introduced to the art of ‘looking’ at the sculptural potential of all ‘things’. Using found objects and pieces of ‘junk’ they will learn how to attach and organise random materials, solve structural problems, and complete and present a work.
