VISITOR ECONOMY FORUM 2023
The annual Maitland Visitor Economy Forum and Networking Lunch provides local visitor economy businesses, events and industry professionals with an exciting and valuable business and professional development opportunity, and a chance to network and engage with industry colleagues.
On Tuesday 19 September, Maitland City Council invited local visitor economy businesses, events and tourism industry leaders to attend the third annual Maitland Visitor Economy Forum and Networking Lunch at the newly refurbished Maitland Town Hall.
The event presented attendees with exciting and valuable business and professional development opportunities with information from the Maitland City Council Visitor Economy Team and special guests from key industry bodies such as Glenn Caldwell and Michael Foster from Destination Sydney Surrounds North (DSSN) and Dominic Mehling from Tourism Australia.
Industry was then engaged in plenary sessions that will help shape the future of visitor servicing in the city, enabling the opportunity to work build relationships by collectively working to find solutions. Afterwards, a panel discussion was led by DSSN with local event specialists Georgia Lazzari from The City of Newcastle, Kim Carland from Hunter Joint Organisation, and Adam Franks from Maitland City Council on Events Tourism, with the opportunity for Q&A time.Â
Attendees could network and engage with industry colleagues over lunch and during one of three optional famils of Central Maitland, including a behind the scenes tour of Maitland Town Hall, Maitland Regional Art Gallery, or a Place Activation led walk of Central Maitland.Â

INDUSTRY NETWORKING
The next Visitor Economy Industry Networking Function, the Maitland Mixer, is due to take place in early 2024.
