Industry Events

The City and Visitor Economy team at Maitland City Council aims to provide business development workshops and education sessions, as well as regular industry networking meetings, industry famils and product showcases.


Held annually, the Maitland Visitor Economy Forum and Networking Lunch provides local visitor economy businesses, events and industry professionals with an exciting and valuable business and professional development opportunity, and a chance to network and engage with industry colleagues.

The inaugural event was held at Tocal College in May 2021 and attracted more than 100 attendees. The program featured presentations from Maitland City Council, Tocal College, Australian Regional Tourism, Destination NSW, Destination Sydney Surrounds North, Newcastle Airport and TripAdvisor. After lunch, delegates were invited to take part in a famil of Tocal College or Tocal Homestead.

The second annual event was held at Maitland Gaol in June 2022 and attracted more than 80 attendees. The program featured updates from Maitland City Council, Destination NSW, Destination Sydney Surrounds North, Newcastle Airport and Business Hunter. After lunch, delegates were invited to take part in a famil of Maitland Gaol, East Maitland Executive Apartments or Organic Feast.

The next Visitor Economy Forum is due to take place in May 2023 at another of Maitland’s destination hubs.


The next Visitor Economy Industry Networking Function is due to take place in line with Small Business Month in November 2022.
