Youth Tree Planting for Endangered Flying foxes

Youth Tree Planting for Endangered Flying foxes

Overview

Join Maitland libraries and the Environment and Sustainability team for a unique morning event dedicated to our endangered flying foxes.

  • Start your day with a special ‘eat like a bat’ morning tea, sampling the delicious fruits that make up a flying fox’s diet. Be amazed by fascinating facts about these important pollinators and their role in our ecosystem.
  • Explore their habitat on a guided bushwalk, spotting the trees they love to roost in.
  • Take a moment to slow down and connect with nature through a ‘sit spot’ activity, a mindful practice that benefits both you and the environment.
  • Get creative with nature-inspired craft, capturing your observations and reflections.
  • Then make a lasting impact by rolling up your sleeves for a tree planting session, providing future homes for these incredible creatures.

Please wear a hat, covered shoes, long pants and long sleeve shirt, sunscreen and insect repellent. Remember to bring along your gloves and a water bottle.
