Maitland prides itself as a sporting community, with a long history of sporting champions, icons and high performing teams across regional first grade competitions.
Our community regularly throws its support behind opportunities to host national competition events such as A-League trial matches, FFA Cup matches and NRL trial matches.
Maitland’s direction for sport is expanding with a higher investment in sporting infrastructure of a regional standard in recent years. This has included the development of the Maitland Regional Sportsground, the Maitland Regional Athletics Centre and the redevelopment of the Maitland Netball Centre (the only regional facility outside of Sydney).

The Maitland Regional Athletics Centre is a state of the art facility part of the Maitland Regional Sports Complex located next to No.1 Sportsground in Central Maitland.
Maitland Regional Sportsground
Maitland Regional Sportsground is an icon for the city and it has a rich history in our community spanning over 80 years. It has been home to many memorable sporting achievements and community milestones throughout the years.
aquatics centres
Both Maitland and East Maitland Aquatic Centres have 50m outdoor pools that regularly host swimming carnivals. The Maitland Aquatic Centre is also home to a 25m indoor pool.
maitland netball courts
The Maitland netball court facility is the only one outside of Sydney capable of hosting championships, placing Maitland in good stead to host any large or small netball event.
