Morpeth Bicentenary

Overview

Once one of the most important river ports in NSW and an instrumental part of the development of the entire Hunter Valley, the township of Morpeth, originally known by its Aboriginal name ‘Illalaung’ and traditional land of the Wonnarua people, will commemorate 200 years of its founding by Lieutenant Edward Charles Close.

Come and celebrate Morpeth’s bicentenary on 19 and 20 November 2022 and commemorate the milestone with various activities taking place between Morpeth Bridge, Swan Street and Queens Wharf.
